Just to be clear, this is only what has helped me personally and while I hope it may be useful to you, not everything works for everybody. So take all of this with a grain of salt especially considering that I have no medical qualifications and this is just my own interpretation based on my own experience. Keep reading though... The information you learn could be life changing.
Nutrition and herbs are the other sides of the Thought Freedom Triangle I used to RADICALLY REDUCE my obsessive thought patterns. And let me tell you, they were nearly NONSTOP before I learned and implemented these key concepts.
Had I known these (especially RELEASING) years and years ago, I could have saved myself SO MUCH time and suffering. But as they say, it’s about the journey, not the destination and let me tell you, it’s a WILD RIDE learning this stuff through trial and error over many years. But hopefully this saves others a lot of time and misery by learning these concepts today. Then it’s all worth it.
Nutrition is a wild forest of multiple contradictory viewpoints and opinions that can make any guesswork and try seem like walking through darkness. Don’t worry. This is only going to be about what I feel most helped me the EASIEST and the FASTEST and not about lists of theoretical do’s and don’ts.
So instead of over complicating anything, I’ll cut to the chase. Remember though, these are only my opinions about what I feel most helped me to obtain TONS more inner freedom in the fastest way I know of and I have no medical qualifications. Nor am I making any health recommendations in any way. These are only things you may wish to educate yourself on further at your own decision.

In my experience, MINERALS ARE KEY. While amounts needed may very from person to person and tests by qualified experts would be the only way to know for sure which minerals are lacking, I found certain ones to be very helpful, at least for myself at the time.
These are listed in no particular order.
Magnesium - Required for calmness and tension reduction among other important functions. Many are reportedly deficient. Ionic/Angstrom Magnesium is one option such as by Mother Earth Minerals.
Calcium - Required for many functions including balancing acidity and alkalinity, which may support a greater ability to relax when enough is obtained. Neurotransmitter function requires calcium. Ionic/Angstrom Calcium is one option such as by Mother Earth Minerals. Ionic/Angstrom Calcium may be one of the better sources of supplemental calcium to consider. Pearl Powder (Jing Herbs or Dragon Herbs) is also very high in natural calcium.
Zinc - Immunity and stomach acid functions (digestion) among other functions. Ionic Angstrom Zinc is one option such as by Mother Earth Minerals.
Selenium - Powerful antioxidant functions among other functions such as thyroid function. I theorized, for myself, that there could be inflammation due to excessive free radicals that may have affected my brain and nervous system function and therefore my thinking. It seemed to me that antioxidants often lessened inflammation and subdued obsessive thinking to some extent. A deficiency in Selenium may lead to less than ideal natural antioxidant defenses. 1 or 2 raw Brazil nuts a day is said to provide the recommended daily value. Ionic/Angstrom Seleniun such as by Mother Earth Minerals is one supplement option. It’s said that overdoing Selenium can be toxic. However, it’s also not good to be deficient.
Potassium (such as Ionic/Angstrom Potassium) may be useful if a deficiency is suspected. Can be relaxing and calming to nerves. One common symptom of low potassium levels can be muscle cramping (although it could be due to a lack of other minerals as well). High amounts of fruits and vegetables and/or potatoes seem to be required to get anywhere near the recommended daily amounts. Like any nutrient, though, overdoing it (through excessive supplemental intakes) is also not good.
Bananas (and other fruits), Avocados and Potatoes may be three easy food ways to get in fair amounts of potassium and see if any benefits arise. That’s if you do well with those foods though. Green leafy vegetables and wheatgrass are other ways. But it seems that quite a lot of vegetables have to be eaten to get close to the daily requirement of going that route.
Vitamins are also KEY
Vitamin C (food based may be best such as the Camu Camu and Rose Hips derived blends like Purely C from North American Herb and Spice) - Important for immune function, adrenal function (stress response), and is said to help alleviate excess histamine.
Vitamin D3 - Involved in calcium utilization, immunity, and inflammation among other important functions. Some (but not all) doctors recommend higher amounts for most people such as 5,000–10,000 IU per day. It depends on the person, though, and what is recommended by their healthcare practitioner.
(Vitamin A and E may also be important to ensure that enough is taken in. Vitamin A is involved in immunity among other things and some doctors suggest that the pre form beta carotene may not be enough in vegetables to convert into enough retinol. As a result, some doctors recommend taking foods or supplements that have the active form, retinol. It seems to be in butter/ghee, some cheese at least, cod liver oil, and at least some fish oil if it’s whole such as Polar Power by North American Herb and Spice. Blue Bonnet offers a cod liver oil derived Vitamin A (highly concentrated) that packs a high dose in a very small capsule. Vitamin E may also be a key nutrient to consider due to its antioxidant effects on the nervous system/neurology. This may be better to get from food sources instead of synthetic when possible and one highly concentrated food based Vitamin E product is Purely E by North American Herb and Spice.)
Vitamin K2 - Many doctors agree this is important to take alongside Vitamin D3 to support calcium going to the right places instead of potentially overfilling the wrong places with calcium and creating issues. Has other important benefits and functions as well.
Vitamin B6 - Important for neurotransmitter production and the methylation cycle, which some doctors (Bill Walsh, for example) think is running too low in people with OCD. B6 contributes methyl groups, which is said to help lower excess histamine levels and promote inner balance if needed. While there are supplements that deliver high amounts of B6 in capsule form, there are also food based options to consider like Nutritional Yeast or the Food Powder Purely B by North American Herb and Spice as well as Bananas and certain other foods. Yet, not everyone does well with those foods/products and a B6 vitamin supplement may work better for the person. Like anything, you don’t want to overdo it beyond the amounts that are recommended to be safe per day and always ask your healthcare practitioner before trying anything.
Vitamin B5 - Important for adrenal function and proper hormonal and stress response. The adrenals are involved in the fight or slight system and our experience of stress. While B5 may be abundant in various foods, it’s thought that some may become deficient due to digestive/absorption issues which may connect with low amounts of beneficial bacteria in the gut and other digestive issues such as low stomach acid or enzyme output leading to improper digestion and absorption. It’s said by some that the high amounts of B5 in supplements may be necessary for those that are deficient and not absorbing the vitamin well. When the gut is working well with good amounts of friendly bacteria, the friendly bacteria themselves plus the B5 in the everyday diet may potentially be enough.
In addition to supplements there are also food based sources of this and other B vitamins such as Nutritional Yeast (not everyone does well with it but many apparently do) and Royal Jelly. North American Herb and Spice offers a food product focused on high B Vitamin foods like Torula Yeast and Royal Jelly called Purely B. They also offer a Royal Jelly product in capsule form called Royal Power.
Vitamin B1 or other B Vitamins like B12 could also be useful supplementally or through the addition of foods that contain high amounts.
While all essential nutrients are necessary to have at one level or another, Dr. Bill Walsh seems to find that B6 is particularly useful in a methylation sense, which impacts neurotransmitter function. He finds that excess Folate (A particular B Vitamin) can do the opposite for some that are under methylated and downgrade aspects of neurotransmitter function. He claims that he finds that many with OCD are under methylated and he has them avoid folate supplementation among other things. This may or may not be accurate for many people but it’s worth considering.

Essential Fatty Acids Can Also Be Key
While Omega 6 may be abundant in many foods. Including nuts and seeds, it’s often easier to be deficient in Omega 3.
Omega 3 is important for nervous system function and neurology as it is a component of the myelin that costs nerves and insulates them as well as allows neurotransmitters to work properly.
While it is in some foods in fairly high amounts like flax seed, hemp seed, chia seed and their oils as well as fish especially, wild salmon and sardines, it may be easier or necessary (for some) to supplement with a high quality omega 3 supplement.
Some suggest having both short chain omega sources (hemp seed oil for example) and long chain omega 3 sources (fish oil or algae oil) is ideal.
Go for quality. There are many brands available.
Superfoods and Herbs
Royal Jelly - Contains high amounts of natural food based pantothenic acid and sterols which seem to support adrenal function.
Burdock Root - Used as an herb by herbalists to reduce worry and strengthen adrenal function and oil/fat utilization.
Horse Chestnut - Used by herbalists to support better blood flow and reduce overthinking when due to excess blood in the head area causing overstimulation and “heat”. Can help to “cool down” the mind and relax. Small doses of even a single drop of tincture may be enough. There’s also the homeopathic variety.
Passionflower - Used by herbalists to calm down obsessive mind chatter and promote sleep and relaxation. Small doses of 1-3 single drops of tincture may be enough. Can possibly cause drowsiness.
Hops - Used by herbalists to calm the mind and body and support sleep. I find that it seems to help shut off overthinking and obsessive thoughts in a powerful way at least for me at times. Small doses of 1-3 single drops of tincture may be enough. Can possibly cause drowsiness.
Hawthorn - Used by herbalists to reduce inner “heat” and inflammation potentially due to excessive histamine responses. Used to relax the mind and connect to the heart.
Wild Cherry Bark - Herbalists use it to reduce excess inner “heat”, which may help to calm the mind down if the heat or inflammation is agitating it. Can be very calming. Some herbalists thinks it helps reduce inflammation due to excess histamine levels.
Turmeric - Helps stop excessive inflammation and has been said to improve neurotransmitter function among other benefits.
Wild Oregano Oil (P73 Variety called Oreganol by North American Herb and Spice) - I’ve used fairly high amounts of it at times and it seems to have helped me greatly to clear my mind. It has natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral qualities (some doctors feel that OCD, in some people, may be a result of some kind of unresolved infection which they say could be strep related). It also has potent anti inflammatory and antioxidant qualities. Oregano oil tastes strong but I find that it gets easy to take directly by the dropper of a couple drops at a time. It can produce a burning sensation though so be careful. The Osteopathic Doctor that brought it to the market (Cass Ingram) claimed that he used it for himself in very high amounts at times and with his patients/clients as needed in that way (more than just a couple drops at a time) but that probiotics should be considered if taken in high amounts (I believe he claimed in amounts of about 10 plus drops a day of which he recommended that or higher for many situations). He was adamant that the P73 variety (mountain grown, wild and unaltered) is the only one that should be taken daily or for extended periods of time as he’s weary of other varieties in terms of effects). The Juice of Oregano (Oreganol Juice) may as be a good addition to consider.

Potent Creamy Nutrient Power Drink
Heres my current recipe that seems to have helped me to empower my health in specific ways that reduce my obsessive thinking.
I use it like a meal replacement for the first meal or two during the day. See what works for you though as it may depend on the person. The ingredient list may change as I find ways to improve it but, at the moment, this seems helpful. If I found that a particular ingredient didn’t support me, such as Black Sesame or any other ingredient, I would just make the drink without it in a different way such as using more coconut milk. Use what works for you.
I add the ingredients to a cup with the dry ingredients added in first and then the liquid or creamy elements. Then stir and add the amount of water you desire to make it as thick or thin as you want. Then stir again until smooth and creamy and drink. I tend to make 2 10-12 oz cups worth at one time to save time and effort (Simplifying life can be really helpful to reduce stress and obsessive thinking in my experience). I sip on them through a period of the day.
Ingredients
Raw Cacao Powder - Seems to have powerful neurotransmitter, antioxidant, and neurological beneficial properties. It also has a lot of key minerals like magnesium and gives this drink a chocolatey taste. While this can have powerfully beneficial effects in my experience,
test it to see how you feel with certain amounts. If I felt agitated, overstimulated, or had any kind of heart palpitations, I would stop taking it or try a far lower amount. Currently, I think the brand TerraSoul has a good cold pressed cacao powder but there are others and results may very with different brands. See what works for you.
Wheatgrass Powder - Provides natural, food based potassium and alkaline minerals including trace minerals that can be easy to run low on. Potassium can be calming as can various alkaline minerals and trace minerals within wheatgrass. Amazing Grass Powdered Wheatgrass is what I’ve been using but there are many brands. Both whole wheatgrass powder and wheatgrass juice powder can be good in different ways but ultimately offer many similar benefits.
Burdock Root - Used as an herb by herbalists to reduce worry and strengthen adrenal function and oil/fat utilization. Whole herb powder, powdered extract, or tincture can work. Amounts can very but a little can go a long way. If the adrenals really need nourishment and rejuvenation, in the beginning, the person could become really tired and want to take a nap when taking adrenal tonics but wake up more rested and refreshed than usual. Eventually, they may energize and promote a sense of stability and calmness.
Food based, Camu/Acerola/Rose Hips etc. Vitamin C Powder: Many agree that Vitamin C is a key nutrient for the adrenal glands, which is likely under a lot of pressure from the stress of obsessive thinking. Vitamin C also combats infections, free radicals (may help to ward off inflammation of tissue that is involved in our ability to handle stress well) and excess histamine levels. Some consider excess histamine to be connected with obsessive thinking. If using capsules, try adding using one capsule or so between two 12 oz drinks. More may or may not negatively affect the flavor but more than one capsule a day may be ideal so other capsules can be had straight as a capsule if desired. Purely C by North American Herb and Spice is a great option.
Sea Salt or a good quality Pink Salt (small amount) - Natural salt in appropriate amounts can be very important for adrenal and stomach acid functions (for proper food breakdown and nutrient absorption) as well as the various other important roles it plays as an electrolyte.
Vanilla Creme Stevia By Sweet Leaf (may require 1-2 full squirts per drink but it depends on the other ingredient amounts and personal desire)
Coconut Milk - I like the natural/simple varieties that don’t have anything added beyond just coconut and water such as the Thai Kitchen variety of coconut milk that just contains those ingredients in a carton (just two ingredients). There are other natural coconut milk varieties in cans as well. Coconut contains fats that may support neurology and hormone production, which may lead to greater resiliency and feelings of wellbeing. In addition to omega 3 fatty acids, the myelin sheath that coats the nerves and protects and it supports its function is composed of saturated fat and cholesterol. Coconut contains good quality saturated fat and quickly utilized short chain fatty acids for energy. According to Dr. Gabriel Cousens, coconut fat can be converted into cholesterol if needed by the body. Coconut also gives the drink a creamy, milky flavor and consistency that, with the cacao powder and other synergistic ingredients, can taste like chocolate milk.
Water - After the coconut milk and everything else is stirred, add as much water as you see fit.
If using ionic/angstrom minerals such as calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium etc. they can also be added to the drink.
Potential Supportive Addition:
Probiotic Powder - This can help to reestablish better gut function. The gut connects to our feelings of wellbeing, neurotransmitter production, and immune function as well as nutrients absorption. Lately, I like the product Health Bac by North American Herb and Spice.
IMPORTANT - Remember to also drink enough pure water in addition to what it is in the drink even of the drink seems hydrating. I would have water before and after having the drinks to ensure that proper hydration is there. The drink is fairly concentrated even if you add a fair amount of water to it.
Experiment with moderate amounts (or less) of each ingredient. Too much of a particular ingredient can ruin the flavor. If you don’t feel better from the drink, I would stop having it or modify it as you see fit. However, again, this is only what I would do personally and you should always get the approval of your healthcare practitioner before trying anything.
Note About Diet
I seem to benefit from removing refined sugar and from my diet and, at the moment, taking out grains for the most part.
Sugar from ripe raw fruit eaten on an empty stomach seems to act completely different in my experience though compared to other sugary, sweet foods. It’s got the natural hydration which may help and I’m sure many other reasons. There seems to be a big difference between raw and cooked fruit though. You may do fine with all of the above however.
As a calming, centering, and energizing snack, raw nuts and sea salt/pink salt or raw nuts and raisins (or raisins and sea salt/pink salt) seems to be highly effective for me. Lara Bars (predominantly raw nuts and date mixtures) also seem to be useful in that way.
Eliminating unnatural food colorings, preservatives and unnatural sweeteners may also help. I find that the flavored liquids stevia products work great.
However, you may do well with grains so take this with a grain of salt. That pun was truly unintentional 😆😁.
