The Easy Way To Increase Energy and Vitality

1/16/2013

Energy and Vitality, in my experience, is most easily obtained through specific dietary strategies and emotional releasing or other energy work.  One of the dietary strategies that I've found to be the most useful is to focus on three attributes of nutrition:  Minerals, Polysaccharides, and Water.  If you do this, you'll likely have a very good state of energy compared to just eating anything or not having any kind of guideline.

The reason this is so effective is that these are all key aspects of nutrition which overall increase vitality.  In addition, many people don't get enough of them.

Minerals are included because they are often deficient in people's diets to some extent and many of them have either very calming or energizing qualities.  Some even turn on specific enzymes that do various important processes.  Zinc, for example, turns on various enzymes.  Magnesium, similarly, is involved in over 300 biological processes including various detoxification actions.  Without enough of these, we might be limiting our ability to feel vibrant and healthy.  Also, minerals are said to be depleted by stress.  This is especially true for calming minerals like Magnesium.  Eating foods high in minerals like these ensure greater ability to deal with stress.

Some high mineral foods include Kelp and other seaweeds, Blue Green Algae and other edible algae like Spirulina, along with Goji Berries, high quality raw cacao, etc.  Adding whichever one's you like into your diet ensures higher amounts of minerals and likely overall energy without having to eat as much.  If you don't have access to these foods, consider adding in whichever foods appeal to you most that you know contain higher amounts of minerals.

Polysaccharides are included because they are sources of long-term energy and are very powerful for the immune system as well as the nervous system.  This makes them great vitality inducing components.  High polysaccharide foods and herbs include Goji Berries, Aloe Vera, Noni, Reishi Mushroom extract and mycelium biomass products, other medicinal mushroom products, Astragalus extract, and Activated Barley by SunWarrior.

Water, as we all know, is important for vitality.  Without adequate hydration, our overall energy state declines.  The reason that this is included in this article is that many people feel tired or "out of it" when they actually just need more water.  By checking your thirst, or whether you have had any water recently, you can find out whether a quick way to increase your sense of empowerment is available.  Real Spring water, according to various health experts like David Wolfe, offers the most hydrating and energizing qualities of any water.  Still, the purest water you have available to you in the moment is likely a very good choice.

If you are feeling less than ideal and energetic, consider whether you have been eating foods that have these qualities and if you have been drinking enough water.  While there are other aspects of health and vitality, these can be a good starting point.

What are your keys to energy and vitality?

How To Eat Less

1/16/2013

Eating less is something that many people want to do.  It is often viewed as the ultimate goal when trying to lose weight.  Still, many people have issues with this.  They might have the motivation and reasons for doing it, but when they aren't busy and food is available it is often difficult to resist eating excessively.  This is because it gives them a break from the reality of what they are or aren't doing.  It also might satisfy a nutritional need in the moment, like raising blood sugar.  Still, our dietary choices aren't always beneficial to our health even if they make us temporarily feel better.

Here are some reasons for this behavior:

Lack of minerals in the food we're eating
Lack of appropriate foods that sustain our energy levels for long periods
Emotions that are not being addressed

While there are nutritional and emotional strategies to deal with all of these, there is an easy to follow formula for eating less.  This might not always be the appropriate guideline for everyone, but it is something that offers a new way of viewing dieting that can encourage actual solutions.  Here it is:

Emotional Ease ( The Sedona Method or EFT can help) + Nutrient Dense Foods and Herbs ( Some of the Superfoods that David Wolfe promotes and any Tonic Herb that works with you) + Creative Expression or Flowing Productivity = Lower Food Intake With Less Effort

With some people, especially if they are into meditation, just the first two categories are enough to easily reduce food intake.  By being in a clear, content emotional state and eating foods which empower you and increase feelings of wellbeing you will naturally have less desire for unhealthy foods or excessive eating.  You might find yourself being content with eating almost half as much as you usually do, especially if you are eating foods that are high in minerals.  Being really productive toward something that you really are drawn can really help those who still find it hard to resist over-eating.

Finding something that you are passionate about gives you something to focus on instead of food, especially if you have an outlet to pursue it.  If you don't know what it is, you can find what you are naturally drawn toward that you feel can benefit yourself and others in some way.  Eating foods which give you more energy is another way to get more into a mindset of exploration and productivity, which can help to generate passion and creativity.  Explore the world of tonic herbalism if you have no other interest to focus on besides eating.

One tonic herb which is remarkable for helping people to eat less by having an abundance of energy is Astragalus.  Renowned Herbalist and Tonic Bar visionary, Truth Calkins, suggested in an interview that he experimented with eating high amounts of Astragalus and found that he had so much energy throughout the day that he actually forgot about eating.  He also recommends Astragalus for people trying to lose weight as it helps with metabolism.  The Jing Herbs Astragalus is the one he recommended.  Dragon Herbs also has good products, including Astragalus.

Another herb that is extraordinary for weightloss and just eating less is Gynostemma.  This can be bought as a tea, such as the very powerful Spring Dragon Longevity Tea by Dragon Herbs, or as an extract.  It has properties that increase relaxation and calmness among other beneficial weight-loss aiding aspects.  This is a very inexpensive herb, compared to many tonic herbs, that can be taken throughout the day to ensure greater "adaptobility" to life and increased resisiliency to over-eating habits.  Just taking high quality gynostemma and astragalus products, in itself, is a powerful way to reduce the need to over-eat.  As eating is often emotional in nature, products like these that are very uplifting and emotional-relieving provide the extra strength needed to overcome our habitual patterns.

According to Dr. Brian Clement, director of the Hippocrates Health Institute, Chlorella and other algae products help to reduce cravings for sweet foods.  He says this is because of their high protein content (over 60 percent protein), which is also very bio-available.  In addition, they contain high amounts of minerals, enzymes, and oxygenating chlorophyl, which help to satiate and increase overall vitality.  Some people, however, might not digest Chlorella well due to lack of a certain enzyme.  If this is the case, consider trying other products with similar attributes.

AFA Blue Green Algae is also a powerful supplement for eating less because of it's high protein content and neurotransmitter increasing qualities.  Many people who take it find they can effortlessly eat less and have noticably more energy.  The PEA, which Blue Green Algae contains, is a natural mood elevator and appetite suppressant.  E3 Live products and Ancient Sun nutrition products are considered to be two of the best sources of blue green algae products. Both offer a high quality dried algae product which contains active enzymes and is very easy to use.  You can just stir it into water or even put it on salads.  Adding it to smoothies or elixirs is another idea.

With these foods and herbs, along with a clear and exciting direction, you can be empowered to go beyond the habit of emotional eating.

How have you conquered over-eating?  Do you have any other solutions that weren't listed?

Does Chocolate Promote Health?

1/16/2013

Chocolate, according to numerous research studies, has been shown to perform very powerful heart protective effects as well as increasing various aspects of neurological function.  Still, there are many people in the health community who suggest that chocolate is actually toxic and should not be consumed.  What is the overall reason for these contradicting viewpoints?

1.  Chocolate and it's effect on health for one person might be different for another person.  If someone is eating a typical diet that includes almost anything, eating dark chocolate will likely improve their overall health.  Though, this is not definite.  For someone who eats a very health oriented diet, raw or otherwise, dark chocolate or even raw cacao might actually cause unwanted health effects.  This is partially because chocolate in most forms is at least somewhat stimulating and the theobromine/caffiene might seem detrimental to their wellbeing if they are used to eating non-stimulating foods.  For example, someone who only eats raw food and does not include foods that contain medicinal qualities might be thrown off by the effect of chocolate.  They also truly might not need it and eating excess unecessary foods might be less than health promoting for them.  Still, this doesn't undermine chocolate's ability to help increase many people's health.  This is especially true for people that want to work on issues related to stress or other aspects that chocolate has been associated with helping with.  Though the stimulating effects might be somewhat detrimental and throw a very healthy person off balance, it can be a key transformative addition to someone's diet who already drinks coffee etc.  The studies that show the various benefits of chocolate appear to validate this.

2.  All chocolate or cacao is not processed the same way.  For some people, all cooked chocolate produces stimulating effects, yet they are fine with raw cacao.  For others, raw cacao is ok with them as long as it is processed in a certain way.  For some people, cacao in all forms appears to not work.  In my experience, dark chocolate does have very powerful benefits and nutrition but it is somewhat stimulating which can leave you feeling depleted sometimes.  Some raw cacao is very much the same way, as it is either potentially contaminated with microbes due to the processing method or contains more caffiene-like substances due to processing methods and shell-debri.  According to some people who are very well aquainted with cacao, both of these can produce caffiene-like effects.  With high quality raw cacao that is processed in a way that leaves it without either of those issues, there is much less stimulation but very powerful nutrition effects that can be felt quickly.  I've found certain brands to be better than others in this regard.  Therefore, the negative effects that are associated with cacao can be from cacao that is not processed in a way that limits microbes and shell-debri (which is associated with higher caffiene levels).  In addition, according to David Wolfe and other cacao supporters like David Favor, raw caffiene is much different than cooked caffiene.  While cooked caffiene has various negative effects associated with it, sources of raw caffiene, whien they have been correctly processed, often produce more more beneficial responses.

3.  Many people who dislike cacao and suggest that it is toxic are not very much into herbalism and the idea of wild foods.  With the viewpoint that anything with alkaloids or medicinal qualities are bad, we are left with foods that are sometimes less impactful, but simpler, in their nutritional profile.  These include the typical fruits and vegetables that many people promote as the base of the diet in the raw food community.  That's not necessarily bad, as many people likely do very well with this approach.  However, some people don't respond as well to a somewhat limited way of eating and do better adding in foods which contain certain qualities that add more balance, which are often lacking in typical fruits and vegetables.  Therefore, a food like cacao, which contains various interesting qualities that differentiate it from many fruits and vegetables, can be a helpful addition to certain peoples diets who require more balance in certain areas.

Therefore, if you feel a calling toward chocolate, especially if you are not on a very strict diet, it can potentially be very beneficial for you.  As always, choose the best quality you can.

For extensive information about raw chocolate, I'd recommend checking out the work of David Wolfe.  David Favor, of Radical Health, also shares interesting information and viewpoints about cacao.

Three Easy Ways To Improve Flexibility

1/16/2013

Flexibility is something which allows us to feel younger and more adaptable to life.  It is the opposite of rigidity and stuckness.  How then, do we increase this quality if we don't feel as flexible as we want to be?  Here are three ways that appear to be the most powerful.  You might have other ways, though, so in the nature of flexibility be open to both your own ideas and new ideas that you encounter after reading this article.

In my experience, flexibility increases from three primary categories:  1.  Foods and Suppliments.  2. Movement and Physical Postures.  3.  Emotional Releasing and Energy Techniques.

If you do something from all three categories it is likely that you'll have greater results faster.  Still, though, doing any of them that you feel is beneficial will likely increase flexibility significantly.

Foods and Supplements

With regard to the first category, this is likely where most people will recieve the most benefits.  By consuming foods and supplements which are known to induce calmness and flexibility, we can be assured that we are on the right track.

One of the most powerful and inexpensive supplements for this purpose is MSM.  This is a bio-available form of the mineral sulfur which appears to both benefit detoxification processes and break up arthritic-like calcification (hard forms of calcium that are created by virus-like bacteria which create health issues related to inflexability) when taken in high enough dosages.  While it can be beneficial in some ways to take MSM in the amount that is listed by the product manufacturer, powerful results have been seen when taken in much higher amounts, between 5,000 and 20,000 mg.  The average amount that appears to be recommended by people like David Wolfe, who promotes MSM for many uses, is around 8-10,000 mg worked up to gradually.  Still, that amount can be different for each person so it is important to start small and not exceed the amount that you feel is too much.

Another set of foods which are known to increase flexibility and overall calmness and contentment is green leafy vegetables.  If you digest them well, increasing your intake of whichever green leafy vegetables you like will give you more flexibility increasing minerals and other nutrients.  Many healthcare practitioners promote the consumption of alkaline foods, like green leafy vegetables, for this reason.  Alkaline foods, in general, are foods which contain more alkaline minerals like magnesium than they do acidic minerals like phosphorus.  Alkaline minerals like magnesium and calcium are said to increase contentment and relaxation along with relieving tension in muscles and other areas.

For people who want to increase their intake of green leafy vegetables, there are three easy ways.

1.  Salads - increasing the overall volume and amount of times you eat salad can greatly increase your intake of green leafy vegetables.

2.  Green Smoothies -  This is probably the easiest way to signifantly increase the amount of green leafy vegetables you eat.  You just put one of more handfulls of green leafy vegetables in a blender with enough water to cover them and blend for a few seconds (unless you're using a vitamix or other similar blender where you could put everything in at once) and then put in as much fruit as you want for taste and calories and blend again for around 10 seconds.  The finished drink should be somewhat sweet, yet green, but easy to drink.  Many people have increased their health by drinking around a liter of this a day.

3.  Raw Green Vegetable Juice -  If you have a juicer, or eat at a cafe regularly where they make juice, drinking green vegetable juice as often as you are able to will give you a concentrated amount of flexibility-increasing green nutrition, without having to consume as much fiber.  The result is a quicker uptake of nutrition.

Other foods which appear to increase flexability significantly include minerally dense foods like Sea Vegetables, Blue Green Algae, Spirulina, Chlorella. and polysaccaride rich foods like Aloe Vera, Noni, and Medicinal Mushroom extracts or mycelium biomass products.

Movement and Postures

Another powerful way to increase flexibility is by moving in ways that encourage contentment and relaxation.  Certain postures are also known to help with this.  Yoga is one teaching which greatly promotes this ability.  By doing Yoga, you can become both more content and flexible.

Letting Go and Energy Techniques

Letting Go of stress and doing energy techniques that encourage flow and vitality is another way to improve flexibility.  When we let go, we allow more energy to circulate and flow.  This improves our overall feeling-state, but also induces overall flexibility.  Many times, it is actually emotional issues which create physical symptoms of inflexibility.  Using a technique to let go of feelings is a powerful way to increase our overall sense of vitality.  Two powerful ways to let go of feelings are The Sedona Method and EFT.

Four Easy Ways To Improve Digestion and Elimination

1/16/2013

Many people have issues with digestion.  This is especially true with the assimilation of nutrients and elimination.  When this occurs, you can feel as if there are numerous choices available without knowing where to start.  If you have no background or understanding in natural health, however, you can feel like there are almost no choices available, except for the typical idea of fiber and synthetic laxatives.  This article presents four powerful choices that are likely to help increase overall digestive function without having to eat excessive amounts of fiber or synthetic products.

Here is the basic idea for regaining digestive health:  Eat probiotic rich foods and high quality probiotic supplements, take a high quality digestive enzyme supplement that works well with you, eat high quality raw cacao if it works well with you and take various chi tonic herbs.  These together will likely improve overall digestive function over time.  By doing that, overall health will be able to improve significantly as less toxins are in the body and more nutrition is extracted from food.  Improving digestive health is a very powerful step toward increasing overall vitality.

1.  Probiotic rich food, probiotic supplements, and fermented foods are foods and supplements which contain beneficial bacteria.  This bacteria helps your digestive system by breaking down food and increasing the amount of nutrition that you recieive from it, as well as setting it up for elimination.  Many people with digestive issues have overall bacteria imbalances between the friendly bacteria (probiotics) and the non-friendly bacteria and other microbes.  Two of the most recommended types of products for this are high quality probiotic supplements and fermented food like unpastuerized kim chi and saurkraut.

2.  Digestive enzyme supplements are another helpful tool for digestion and elimination issues.  They are another aspect that promotes the breakdown of food.  Enzymes are one of the most promoted benefits of eating raw food and are known to induce movement verses stagnation.

3.  Raw cacao is another powerful way to improve digestive function, especially elimination.  This is because it contains high amounts of magnesium and other important minerals.  Magnesium is known to improve overall elimination by relaxing the digestive tract.  In addition, it is very calming which increases digestion and elimination by reducing stress.  The presence of various other important minerals and mood elevating components also reduces stress levels, which can increase digestive ability since stress inhibits digestive function.  One brand of raw cacao nibs that I've found to be high quality is Essential Living Foods.  I've also liked Ultimate Superfoods raw cacao powder.  There are likely others that are high quality, though these appeared to be less stimulating and better tasting than other brands that I've tried, which indicates quality and apparent levels of nutrition.

4.  Chi tonics are tonic herbs which promote the production of chi.  Chi is essentially the energy that we use day to day and is associated with digestion and vitality.  These products generally increase our overall level of chi as well as the ability to extract chi from the food we eat.  As a result, products like Astragalus and Ginseng provide powerful digestive benefits.

When you start adding any of these four ideas into your diet, you will likely increase digestive function significantly.  If these, however, don't appear to be working there could be other factors to address.  Some people have had various benefits getting colon hydrotherapy from a qualified practioner.  One product which is marketed as producing benefits almost similar to the effect of colon hydrotherapy is Oxy Powder.  This is a cleansing product which introduces oxygenated magnesium into the digestive tract, producing a result that apparently clears away toxic buildup and increases elimination.  Matt Monarch from TheRawFoodWorld.com sells Oxy Powder and is a huge proponent of colon hydrotherapy for intense cleansing.  He promotes Oxy Powder as the closest product alternative to colon hydrotherapy, yet insists it does not compare in it's overall effect.  Other aspects to consider are overall diet and food choices, as it can be certain foods causing digestive issues.

What are your tips for digestive health?  Are there any ideas that weren't mentioned?

Springwater

Springwater is something that has recieved a lot of attention lately.  As opposed to purified water or bottled springwater, getting your own real springwater from an actual spring is something that is suggested to have multiple benefits.  According to some of the leading health speakers and experts, this is one of the most powerful steps you can take to increase your overall health and vibrancy.

World renowned nutritionist David Wolfe suggests that springwater hydrates you more than other kinds of water.  This is because it is "structured" rather than being broken apart through processing.  According to Wolfe, this separates it from any other kind of water.  The benefit of this aspect of springwater is that your body uptakes it more easily and can start to reverse de-hydration issues faster.

Another prominent speaker on this subject is Daniel Vitalis.  He frequently speaks on the importance of real springwater and has created a freely accessable website findaspring.com that marks where springs are found in the U.S.  This is essentially the leading resource for finding springs around the U.S. and allows people to post new one's that they find.

According to both David Wolfe and Daniel Vitalis, springwater is also one of the most pure sources of water available.  It is naturally filtered through the earth, similar to a giant filtration system and comes up on it's own.  This quality of lightness that it displays, as it comes up rather than being held down by gravity, suggests to them that it contains "levity" or components that increase lightness when consumed.  These, according to David Wolfe are likely very beneficial to the joints, nervous system, and other areas.  He feels that springwater contains certain types of beneficial elements which help to radically increase health.

Springwater, though, should be stored in a specific way if you aren't going to consume it quickly as it can contain small amounts of microalgae or natural bacteria that can start to proliferate in certain conditions, such as access to heat and light.  It is also important to make sure that the spring is generally thought to be safe from contaminants or other issues.

What is Health?

1/16/2013

Recently, I was watching a video by Brandon Gilbert from Hyperion Nutrition and he talked about something which caught my attention.  He spoke about how our concept of health is actually misguided in many ways.  We have individual goals for our health, which could be different for each person at different times, yet we often act as if their is one overall true form of health.  This sets us up into a situation where we might not have a clear direction.  We seek this overall concept of health, which many of us believe is one tangible true state, but we are not necessarily utilizing what we have available to get there because we don't have specific goals or an understanding of what health is to us.  In other words, instead of focusing on fluidity and clear thinking as a direct applicable health goal, we seek this unspecified, often illusory state, that has no room for growth.  As a result, we can feel we're either healthy or we're not, which sets us up for lack of motivation.  If this model of health works for you keep it, however, if it doesn't there are some more empowering ways to view health.

Set up a clear goal for your health at this point.  This may be different from the general viewpoint of health.  Have reasons for wanting to feel better and find ways to do that.  For example, you might want more flexibility and see that something health promoting so you decide to incorporate yoga into your life and eat more calming, relaxation inducing foods and herbs like green vegetables.  This is something you can work toward and see results.

Some people, however, might do better just moving in the direction of overall health verses having specific goals.  This can also be useful if you view it in an empowering way verses considering health something that you should work toward without feeling inspired to do it.

In this video Brandon tells what he feels is the "true backbone of health".  He gives this explanation to give health a tangible aspect to give our attention to and work on for results.  You might have a different viewpoint, however, and that is equally valid.  In general, though, he suggests using health to achieve direct goals and states of wellbeing verses viewing it in a dualistic way of either healthy or not healthy.  The typical doctor oriented way of categorizing health is often not very inspiring for people, however, setting goals to increase your ability to be in the moment and resillient to any stress that you encounter is something you can work toward and find tools along the way to help get you there.

Here's a video where he talks about this concept.

Three Feel-Good Foods For Weight Loss

1/16/2013

Weight loss, as anybody can imagine, would be much easier if you felt incredible.  By feeling well, you can more easily elude temptations and cravings for foods that you really don't want to eat.  In this article, you'll learn three easy foods that anyone can add to their diet to increase their overall feeling state and metabolism, making weightloss much easier and more fun.

1.  Coconut - Coconut products, when they are natural, help to increase metabolism and thyroid function.  This, for many people, leads to added weight loss and more energy.  Also, the saturated fat in coconut is said to convert very quickly to energy rather than being stored as fat.  Much of the fat in coconut is in the form of medium chain tryglycerides, which are quick sources of fuel similar to a carbohydrate rather than a slow burning fat.

2.  Cacao or Chocolate -  Chocolate is one of the most concentrated sources of magnesium.  This is a mineral which is depleted by stress and relieves tension as well as increases focus and feelings of contentment.  Chocolate also contains chromium in high amounts, which helps to balance blood sugar levels.  Often times our intense cravings or emotional eating can actually be due to low blood sugar levels.  This can make us crave things to raise it or our overall mood might drop do to low amounts of energy.  Either way, eating is often a result.  In addition to helping with this, chocolate or cacao also contains various components which help us to feel better overall.  One of these is PEA which is present naturally when we are feeling love and increases focus and feelings of contentment along with MAO inhibitors which allow feel-good neurotransmitters to stay in flow longer.  Chocolate also contains one of the endorphins that is present after excersize, known as andandamide.  These qualities all make it easier to eat less.

3.  Blue Green Algae - Blue Green Algae is a very powerful weight loss and mood improving food in many ways.  It contains a component called PEA which increases feelings of wellbeing and is prevalent in high amounts in people naturally when they are feeling love.  It also contains phycocyanin, the blue quality of blue green algae, which is said to increase neurotransmitter production.  This can potentially increase feel-good serotonin and dopamine levels, making us feel better.  It also has a lot of minerals and bio-available protein which can increase our level of satiation.

Schizandra Berries Bring Elation and Energy

1/16/2013

Schizandra berries are a very powerful addition to any diet.  As a prominent herb in chinese medicine and taoist tonic herbalism, they offer a wide range of benefits suitable for many people.  Rather than being specific for one or two health issues, they work to bring you to a higher level of overall health and vitality.  They also are incredible for the liver and skin, according to research and traditional uses.

In the system of Taoist Tonic Herbalism, there are three prominent treasures or energies that are considered to be the foundation of health and wellness.  These include Jing, Chi, and Shen.  Jing is our core vitality or essence, which is connected to our adrenals/kidneys and reproductive health.  Chi is our day to day energy.  Shen is our sense of spiritual connection.  Interestingly, Schizandra berries contain all three treasures in high amounts.

Shizandra berries are also subtley stimulating, giving an increase of focus when you need it.  They, however, do not negatively effect the nervous system or adrenals like excessive use of coffee can do.  They are considered to be an adaptogen, which means that they do not over-stimulate or induce relaxation unless you are naturally moving in that direction and can benefit from it.  This quality makes Schizandra berries an incredible herb for stress as that adaptive element to them can help you to adapt to whatever you are experiencing more easily.

Schizandra berries can be purchased online and in some health food stores.  They are often bought either as dried berries which can be eaten straight or used in teas or as an extract either in powder or liquid form as a tincture.  Mountain Rose Herbs offers a good price on dried schizandra berries.  The good part about them is that they are so potent that you cannot eat them in the same amount as you would other foods.

The Incredible Benefits of Algae Oil

1/16/2013

Algae Oil is a somewhat new alternative to fish and krill oil.  It is similar to them in that it contains a lot of long chain omega 3, in the form of DHA, but it is from a vegan source.  This makes it far less risky in terms of toxicity.  While many long chain omega 3 supplements have the potential to contain mercury in varying amounts, this is essentially a non-issue with Algae Oil.  The only thing to be concerned of, like fish oil, is the level of heat used in the extraction process and added ingredients.  Luckily, many brands of Algae Oil appear to be ok in these regards.  This is not necessarily true with fish oil and other sources of long chain omega 3's.  Though there are some high quality, pharmacuetical grade fish oils on the market that have been purified and are not heated excessively, many of the commercial fish oils are not as definitive in there quality level.

With Algae Oil, the good thing is that a lot of stores now carry it.  While the quality might not always be as good as it can be, they appear to be good overall.  Without having to worry about mercury levels and various purification processes, you can have an easier time buying them compared to other sources of long chain omega 3's.  If you want what is likely the best quality algae oil on the market, however, I would recommend checking out David Wolfe's Algae Oil from his David Wolfe Foods line.  It is a raw, cold pressed, algae oil that contains DHA, EPA and DPA.  DHA and EPA are the two that are often cited as being important, yet DPA is something that will likely be shown to have benefits.  It also contains Astaxangthin which is a powerful anti-oxident.  If you choose a less expensive approach, however, the various other algae oils on the market are likely good options and provide the benefits you're looking for from Omega 3's.  They might not have the levels of EPA that fish oil does, however, DHA is likely what a lot of people are looking for when they buy Omega 3's.  So essentially, Algae Oil are high DHA supplements without the toxicity associated with low quality fish oils.

DHA and Omega 3's in general are found to be beneficial for:

Nervous System Issues
Depression
Inflammation

DHA is suggested help rebuild the myelin sheath, which surrounds the nervous system and allows feel-good neurotransmitters to flow.  While other vegan sources of omega 3's can be converted into DHA, this is likely not enough for some people due to the low conversion rate.  Algae Oil is a good supplement for this reason.

People with excess anxiety, OCD, and other issues that are connected to stress or the nervous system might benefit from added long chain omega 3's like in Algae Oil.
